Piezo Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is one of the most demanded surgeries.

The most important change in rhinoplasty in recent years has been the use of a device called Piezo that shapes the bone with an energy created by ultrasound.

As a plastic surgeon, a more comfortable recovery period for my patients is a very important issue for me. During almost all of the rhinoplasty surgeries there are interventions to nasal bone.

Working with sound waves, Piezo system is a device that allows us to cut and shape the nasal bone in a very fine way without damaging the skin and cartilage.

It is a very suitable technology for nose aesthetics with newly developed heads that enable us to make clear and fine bone cuts and filings.

In the nasal aesthetic surgery performed with Piezo device, the bone healing is 60% faster than the conventional method.

Causing less swelling and bruising, providing a smooth recovery process is the most important part for the patient in the postoperative period in rhinoplasty.

Piezo is, of course, not the last invention in rhinoplasty, but it is a system that has taken its place in the field of plastic surgery as an important technological advance that provides fineness and superiority in shaping the nasal bone.

What to expect after Piezo Rhinoplasty?

One of the most frequently asked questions by my patients before surgery is whether the tampon placed in the nose after surgery will prevent breathing. For this concern, we are using a very comfortable leaf-shaped silicone tampons without blocking the airway and at the same time, a comfortable feeling is provided. In addition, when the tampons are removed, the patient feels minimum pain, contrary to the general belief.

Another important issue for the patients is when they can go back to work and their daily lives. The patient spend the night at the hospital after the operation and the tampons are removed after 5 to 7 days.

Some patients may also be advised massaging after 3 weeks. The patients should not go in the sea or pool for 2 months. We prefer that the patient does not wear glasses for 6 months.

Of course, during the recovery period, we recommend that they do not receive any impact on the nose and they should protect themselves.

Today, developing technologies have facilitated rhinoplasty operations for the surgeons and also increased the comfort of the patients.
