Breasts are sexual identity of women. It’s not uncommon for women who are unhappy with their breasts to be both physically and emotionally affected.
There is no defined standard for breasts. While it varies from people to people, women today mostly prefer fuller, rounded and lifted breasts.
Enlarged breasts cause problems for both women and men. The swelling of breast tissue in men is called gynecomastia and in women gigantomastia or breast hypertrophy. In both cases, underlying hormonal or organic defects should be examined. Gynecomastia rate is considerably high and should not be underestimated; it can be very disturbing and bothering especially for men whose bodyweight is accepted as normal. Even though it is more tolerable in women, depending on its extent, it can be physically and socially unpleasing for women as well.
Although there isn’t any standard criteria for breast size, the distance between nipples and clavicular notch (approx. 21-23 cm ) is taken basis when evaluating breast size.
Causes of enlarged breasts are in relation with hormones, puberty, weight gain and pregnancy.
